Laura Zeller is a freelance writer, activist, Lyme disease patient advocate and online Lyme disease support group leader from northern New York. Her dramatic story has been featured on the Discovery Channel and the Learning Channel's "Mystery ER" which chronicles Laura's bitter fight for survival through a myriad of complex medical diagnoses. Laura saw over 50 doctors on her quest for a diagnosis, and was deemed a "medical mystery".

Throughout her teens and twenties Laura was misdiagnosed as having Fibromyalgia (FMS), Addison's disease, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and countless others. Determined to seek out the cause of her vast array of symptoms, Laura researched various chronic illnesses on the internet and began to read into the possibility of Lyme disease. The more Laura read the more things seemed to make logical sense. Laura had had dozens of tick bites in her life, all of which had been dismissed by her onslaught of doctors. Laura had essentially diagnosed as having a "symptoms" because chronic fatigue always has a cause.

Finally, after suffering needlessly for ten years, Laura's Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD), Dr. Joseph J. Burrascano Jr., discovered she had been infected with Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, Babesiosis and Bartonella infection. By the time Laura got in to see Dr. Burrascano, she was completely disabled, and had zero quality of life. Dr. Burrascano was her guardian angel, and his experience with tick-borne disease treatment saved her life. After 5 years of aggressive antibiotic treatment, and Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy (HBOT), Laura made tremendous progress and is now working full time helping other patients receive the strength and support, and find the tools they need to regain their health.

An outdoor enthusiast, Laura's passion for wilderness and environmental conservation motivates her daily life. With a B.S in Ecology and Environmental Science, Laura's interests include fly fishing, backpacking, camping, traveling, nature photography, skiing, caving and mountain climbing. She is currently studying medicine, and planning a future as a Lyme Literate Physician's Assistant. Laura wants to help Lyme patients get well, and find the treatment they deserve. She has helped thousands of patients find hope and courage through her website and her online support group. She encourages her fellow Lyme patients to never give up hope, if you are determined to fight hard enough, you will eventually get well.
