Tina GarciaTina J. Garcia is a Lyme disease patient and advocate who currently resides in Arizona with her husband, Jose, and their dog, Pancho. Prior to becoming disabled from Lyme disease from a tick bite in central Arizona, Tina worked as a personal injury legal assistant and Latin/Ballroom dance instructor. For Tina, losing these abilities due to her illness has been a great loss. However, she has instead directed her focus toward serving others as best as she can through the non-profit charity she founded in 2005. Tina founded a 501(c)3 public charity called Lyme Education Awareness Program also known as L.E.A.P. Arizona. L.E.A.P. provides education to the public about tick-borne diseases and financial assistance to patients for treatment of their choice and necessities of life. The demand for financial assistance is overwhelming and difficult to keep up with. L.E.A.P. gratefully welcomes all private tax-deductible donations to further efforts aimed at helping patients obtain the treatment they so desperately need. Since becoming ill with Lyme disease and Ehrlichiosis, Tina has developed a love for writing. In addition to her Lyme disease advocacy letter writing to governmental agencies and articles for the Public Health Alert, Tina is preparing to publish a children’s book. Tina enjoys spending time with her loving husband and stepdaughter, cherished parents, four wonderful grown children and her seven delightful grandsons. Family get-togethers occur frequently at the Garcia home and consist of great company, delicious food and tons of fun! Articles by Tina Garcia:The
